Fitness Fans Gift Guide 2024
Nov 23, 2024In my experience, movement is the most common habit women want to work on. So, how about we make it both easier AND funner??
Here's what I've loved and used to do so.
Note: Some links may be affiliate. Thanks for supporting my small business.
1. Wilma Resistance Band: I just bought 2 more to store in various parts of my home:) This is the perfect amount of stretch and non-stretch. And great for travel workouts, too. (I use it for workouts on both apps/programs I recommend below.)
2. Owala Freesip Water Bottle: Stanley is dead to me. These are the best water bottles--you can suck with a straw, you can pour out, you can carry, and things stay COLD for a long time. I have it in the largest size and still take it everywhere, and I got the size pictured for my big kids.
3. Yoga Mat: I've had this one for years. It's thick, which my aging bones appreciate. I use it both for yoga and my usual guide Strength Training workouts.
4. LMNT Electrolyte Mix-ins: (Get a sample pack with this link.)These are SALTY, but in a way where you immediately get hooked. I use one in my water bottle each morning with my workout, and it's truly helped my hydration and eased my headaches and leg cramps. Brad loves these for his long runs. I have loved every flavor, but chocolate-caramel and raspberry salt have my whole heart.
5. Kion Aminos: (Use code PROGRESS for a discount.) This is another drink mix-in that I use almost daily--usually in the afternoons. Aminos are what protein is made of, so it can hep supplement protein and aides in recovery + energy. The flavors are very mild, which I really appreciate. You can't go wrong--but mango is my very favorite.
6. Athleta Ultra High Elation Leggings: Thin + supportive, high but don't roll, soft but not ridiculously expensive. It checks off al the boxes. Athleta is my favorite fitness apparel brand for high quality without Lululemon prices + I can use my Gap Card rewards there. My stuff from them lasts for ages. I just got these in black to wear for workouts or days when I'm taking it easy.
7. Athleta Ease Shirt: I personally don't like my tops to be tight, so this loose fitting exercise t-shirt is perfect for me. It's airy and moisture-wicking--an upgrade from my usual cotton tops.
8. Wilma Workout App: I have had this app since its inception 6+(?) years ago. While there are 2 versions (home and gym), I've used the home version and absolutely love it. Meg made me strong. You only need 5 lb and 10 lb weights + a resistance band, and you're good to go.
9. Amazon Workout Socks: Meg (see above) recommended these years ago and they have answered all my "big feet" prayers. They're comfortable, well-structured, stay up, and don't break the bank.
10. Free Weights Set: While I bought my dumbbells one set a time, I wish I could go back and start with these. I've been slowly adding in more weight this year, and having more of a variety + a stand to place them on are a must.
11. Hoka Rincon 4 Shoes: I mean, what more is there to say that you haven't already heard? Hokas are comfortable and great for all kinds of workouts + they last for a long time. I use my pairs for all my workouts (walks, included) and use them until the tread is gone. I just got this particular pair in black for Christmas
12. Amazon Sports Bras: I was surprised when Brad gave these to me for Christmas a few years ago, but (sweetest thing ever) the man noticed I needed new ones while folding our laundry. They've really held up, and provide good support without hurting me. I've requested more to be under the tree this year.
13. Athleta Ease in Tank: A loose but not too loose tank for working out. I got a few recently and have been wearing them a ton. I think they'd be flattering for any figure.
14. Peloton Workout App: (60-day guest pass!) I. am. obsessed. I use Peloton for bike workouts (with a cadence monitor), but also for strength and yoga. There's such a great variety of workouts and instructors, and it's easy to filter out based off of the time you have and how you're feeling. THEY ARE FUN!!! I use the heavier weights than Wilma for my Peloton ST workouts, but I also filter their body-weight workouts when I need something, but not too much. Note: I don't own ANYTHING Peloton besides the app--you don't need the fancy equipment. (See the bike I recommend, below.)
15. Athleta Salutation Stack Leggings: Everything I love about the other leggings on this guide, but WITH POCKETS--and so thin that they don't change the shape on you, like so many leggings-with-pockets do. I just got these and want to wear them every day.
16. Stationary Bike: I've had this bike for 6-ish years and it's a WINNER. With a cadence monitor, you can use the Peloton app workouts. It takes a bit to put together and you'll want to buy some treadmill lubricant too (for the brakes/squeaky parts--I apply like 1X a year). If you want to workout from home more and get in some great cardio, this + the Peloton app will be the ticket.
17. (forgot to include in the picture) Just Ingredients: my very favorite protein powder! Sales are rare for them, but the discount rises the more you spend. Use my code "ABOUTPROGRESS" for free shipping. I stocked up!
